The Law of Attraction

This is something that I live everyday and every moment of my life; actually we all do but most of us are not aware of it. I am one of those who are not only aware of it but also use it to advantage day in and day out. Yes, this powerful tool of living life is known as the Law of Attraction. This is a Universal Law that operates as infallibly as the Law of Gravity does.

What is this Law of Attraction? I am sure most of you have heard of it. And some of you must be aware of it in your lives. Some others like me must be practicing it consciously. In simple words, this Law states that like attracts like. Yes, it does seem to oppose the law of our physical world that says Opposites attract, but don’t you think that like minded people also attract each other. People with similar interests do gravitate towards each other. According to this law, each one of us attracts the circumstances, situations, and people into our lives. Do you agree with this statement?

This effectively means that each one of us is responsible for all the circumstances, situations, and people in our lives since we have attracted them. This also means that we can not blame anyone else for the circumstances, situations, and people in our lives. Are we ready to shoulder this onerous responsibility of everything that happens or does not happen in our lives?

Now the question comes, how have we attracted these circumstances, situations, and people in our lives; most of which we never ever wanted in the first place? How can we attract it? Understanding this aspect holds the key to our stupendous growth. I can hear you exclaim, “My God, I couldn’t have attracted this lousy job. I couldn’t have attracted my mother-in-law or did I? What about my foul mouthed boss? How could I ever attract him into my life? I just fractured my elbow. You mean to say that I attracted the accident”. Yes, the fact remains that you did attract all of this into your life? Let us understand how you did it.

Do you believe that this entire universe is made up of energy? Everything in this cosmos right from the galaxies to a tiny grain of sand is made up of energy. Nothing exists but
Energy formed into things. We give name to these things like tables, chairs, houses, cars, stars, trees, animals and people.

The apparent difference between all things is due to the rate of energy vibration of that thing. So we see that we are all made up of energy, but we vibrate at a different frequency. There are different factors that determine the rate of our vibration. One thing that makes you and me different from tables, chairs, houses, and cars etc is that we have the means to alter and influence other energies. We can change the energy of a table, chair, house, car, or even other people.

Now as like attracts like, we attract things, circumstances, situations, and people that have the same vibrational frequency as us. The other truth is that all the so called good things have higher vibrations than not-so-good things. So the magic mantra to attract all the good things into our lives is by increasing our vibrations.

Remember that it’s all energy. We are energy systems. Taken a step further, it means we are all connected. If we’re nothing but energy and we’re all one, then what you do affects me and what I do affects you, even if we’re miles or even continents apart. That is the kind of power each one of us possesses. The energy we give out is the results we get.

Clean your energy pathways and you can have, do, or be anything that you want. So, what do we need to do in order to be what we want? How do we clean the energy pathways?

1. Know what you don’t want

First of all we must be clear about what it is that we do not want to attract in our lives. Make a list of all that you categorically do not want in your life. It is a very important step.

2. Know what you really want

Sometimes people are very vague about what they want in their lives. If you consider the list of what you don’t want, you can make a list of what you do want. Once you have made a list of what you want, tear the list of what you do not want and burn it. Make all that disappear from your life. Keep the list of what you want, and read it everyday. You are going to attract all of it.

Knowing what we want is just paying attention to something specific. That's all it is. Imagine going to a restaurant and ordering chicken soup. But before it arrives you change your order to won ton soup. And before that arrives you change your order back to chicken soup. You’ll sit there and complain, saying “I can never get what I want!” when
In reality you are the reason that your soup is late! Most of us do that every day. Our indecision makes it almost impossible for us to attract what we want. No wonder we end up feeling that we can’t get what we want. Yet, it doesn’t have to be that way. With complete focus we can attract all that we desire into our reality.

3. Clear all negative or limiting beliefs

Our beliefs are what create our reality. Have you noticed that some people keep having recurring problems? Have you ever wondered why it is the same problem for each person? The person with money problems always has money problems. The person with relationship problems always has relationship problems. It’s as though each person specializes in a disorder. Beliefs, unconscious or not, are creating those events.

Until the beliefs that create the events are released, the events will continue to reoccur. And where do these beliefs come from. Most of these originate in our childhood. Most of our beliefs are formed by the time we are 7 years old. Thereafter these beliefs keep replaying themselves and create our reality. It is time now to re-examine these beliefs. Don’t just live on auto pilot. Take charge of your life, and form empowering beliefs. Remember your beliefs determine your rate of vibration.

4. Be focused on the positive

Keeping a positive focus certainly isn’t an easy thing to do but when you start reaping its benefits you can’t go back to your old way of thinking. The law of attraction tells us that people’s thoughts and decisions are the very cause of their own problems! The negative ideas that people project work as a “self-fulfilling prophecy”. By focusing on the negative, we create negativity. The law of attraction tells us that, whatever we give our attention to becomes our point of attraction. It becomes the thing that we magnetize into our lives. This is even true for the things we try to separate ourselves from or fight against because we find that we are still giving these “negative” things our constant attention.

5. Enjoy the new

In creating a new backdrop for success with your new beliefs, you are stepping into unknown territory outside of your existing thinking patterns and comfort zone. There may be fear, anxiety and resistance, as well as issues of deserving about the new levels of success and happiness that you are creating.

Listen to any fears you may have. Love and respect all parts of you, yet kindly, and with command affirm your desire for the new. Feel your passion, excitement, commitment and enthusiasm. Claim your right to be free, to be who you wish to be and to live your life as your heart desires. Relish the new.

See the world through new eyes. Be willing to be surprised. Have the curiosity and imagination of a child. Expect the unexpected.

5. Use the platform of love

Love is a great vibration booster. If we operate from the platform of love, we wish for abundance for all and lack for none. It takes us above greed, jealousy and envy, the negative feelings that lower our vibrations.

In other words, if you want a new house but don’t want your neighbor to have one, you’re stuck in ego and that’s greed. But if you want a new house and think everyone ought to have one, then you are in tune with the creative spirit and you’ll pull or be led to that new house.

If you aren’t manifesting what you want, there probably is an absence of love somewhere in your inner world. That’s another way of discovering where you may not be clear inside. Think of how you feel about the people involved in what you want to create. If there is a negative charge or uncomfortable feeling about someone, you aren’t clear with that person.

5. Forgive others, forgive yourself and be grateful

Forgiveness is the best way I know for getting clear by yourself. And the best way to become forgiving is to feel gratitude. Focus on what you like about people, you will feel grateful, and then you will begin to forgive, and then you will get clear. And when you get clear, you can have, do, or be whatever you want. One of the most powerful energies you can ever experience is gratitude. Feel gratefulness for anything and you shift the way you feel. Feel thankful for your life, your lungs, your home, it doesn’t matter. Once you feel grateful, you are in an energy that can create miracles.

7. Feel the abundance

Feelings are very powerful in increasing or decreasing our vibrations. When we feel joyful, loving, peaceful, and ecstatic, we vibrate at a very high rate. So imagine how you would feel when you have all that you want. Feel that feeling now. Let this feeling seep into your cells. After that whatever you do would carry your energy signature and attract the like vibrational frequencies to you.

5. Let go

There is a great power in letting go. The universe itself will act to move you to what you
want, and move what you want to you. All you have to do is let go, while acting on your inner prompts. Let go of fear, doubt, worry, disappointment, and any other negative emotion that might make you feel low, these lower your vibrations. Think about it. When you feel high, your vibrations are high; when you feel low your vibrations are low. And you attract people, things, circumstances that resonate with your vibrations.

6. Trust the process

What you’re being asked to do is trust. Trust that when something happens, it’s good; and trust that when something you want doesn’t happen, it’s good, too. Everything that happens in your life is moving you in the direction of your goals. Now think about this. This statement says that everything, without fail, without exception, is moving you towards your dreams. So if something happens that you feel is bad, remember that it happened to move you forward. Your job is to find the positive in the negative, or at least to trust that there is a positive there, even if you can’t see it at the moment. This might be tough to accept, at first. But the truth is, it is an enlightened way of living your life.

What the Law of Attraction tells me is that I have to let go and trust that life itself is taking me to the things I desire. And as I let go, trust, and give thanks for my life, I feel different, I radiate a different vibration to the world; and better things and experiences come to me.

Past Life Regression

Benefits of past life regression

Past life regression helps to heal chronic diseases. It helps the individuals to understand the karmic patterns involved in illness, and the resultant energy blockages. The understanding that flows during a session clears the energy blockages; thereby healing the dis-ease. Take for example a person who had a past life in which s/he was not allowed to express his/her views or had to pay a heavy price for expressing them; such a person may have a disease of the throat. After re-living the concerned past life and releasing the trauma, the healing occurs.
Past life regression helps overcome fears and phobias, by bringing about an understanding of the specific root cause. For example, a person had claustrophobia (fear of closed spaces). He re-lived a past life in which he was buried alive in an earthquake. Once he released that trauma, he was able to overcome his fear.
Past life regression improves one’s inter-personal relationships by making the person understand the impact of past life relationships with those individuals. The person is able to see the larger perspective and therefore the relationships are ‘healed’.
Past life regression frees us from fear of death once and for all. Through exploring our past lives we realize that we are eternal beings. We have been here before and we will come back again. This understanding completely eliminates the fear of death.

B) Common misconceptions about past life regression therapy

Only the present life is relevant, past lives have no effect on the present life.
In reality, we are the products of ‘all our experiences’ carried within us from all our past lives in addition to the experiences of the present life. The past life therapy helps get rid of the negative patterns of the past which continue to affect our present life.

Past is past and better left alone.
Scientific research indicates that all our memories, including those of the past lives, are stored in the mind field. We carry these memories and their effects in our energy field in the present moment, and unconsciously act out of these stored beliefs and experiences. Releasing the past is an important step, and can only be undertaken once we understand it.

The past life memories during regression are experienced due to the suggestion of the therapist.
Past life regression therapists do not give suggestions during regression. They only direct the client to seek the root cause of an issue. The client’s sub-conscious reveals the memories.

Past life regression therapy can be done by anyone.
It is important to be treated by someone who is trained and experienced in the field. Only an experienced practitioner whose belief system is compatible with the spiritual science of past lives should conduct regression work.

If we really had past lives, we would remember them.
In reality there are occasions when we do remember our past lives. This happens when:
We meet a person for the first time but feel that we know this person well.
We visit a place for the first time but feel that we have been here before.
We sit in deep mediation and have a past life recall.
Child prodigies exhibit talents and abilities that can not be explained by the circumstances or experiences of their current lives.

Love Yourself- Heal your Life

When I first came to know about ‘Love yourself- Heal your life’ workshop being conducted by Life Positive Foundation at Sevagram, I was immediately drawn to the concept. I have been a Louise Hay admirer for past couple of years. I follow all the advice mentioned in her books. Her philosophy completely resonates with mine. So the decision to attend the workshop didn’t take much thought. Now looking back I realize that it was one of the most important decisions of my life. It has brought in a new perspective and clarity of thought to me.

My first glimpse of Sampoorna, the workshop leader, was against the beautiful morning sun of Aarogyadham. She stood out amongst a group of women. Her tall, slim silhouette attracted me and I experienced a surge of love for her. On closer quarters she exuded peace and serenity. She seemed like the perfect person to teach Louise Hay’s work. That first meeting was the beginning of a beautiful process.

The workshop was completely experiential. No discourses, no left-brained intellectualization of spirituality, no mumbo-jumbo either. It was just an inner journey into our beliefs, fears, and doubts. There was a lot of music, dancing, singing, holding hands, and hugging. Love was palpable and real during these sessions, and beyond the sessions. The participants bonded like long lost friends and family. The group energy was infectious in its glory.

By the end of the first session people opened up, and by the end of the sixth day, a lot of release had happened. Each one was unfolding at his/her own pace: smiling, crying, laughing, contemplating, or spreading love and cheer. I did all that I do not normally get to do. I hugged everyone, every time I met them. I sang incessantly (later someone confessed to me that my singing had brought in some catharsis for her. God sure operates through people!!!!) I even had a bicycle ride, sitting pillion on Sevagram roads!! It was an incredible experience.

Besides doing many exercises like anger release, forgiveness, and writing a new life story; we took morning and evening walks, watched birds, meditated under the blue sky, and bonded with some locals. We deleted the word ‘should’ from our mental dictionaries; and professed love to ourselves, looking deep into our eyes, during the ‘mirror work’. We integrated all our inner personalities, and we enacted a role play. All this was powerful healing work, besides being loads of fun.

At the end of it when we sat down to share our insights; beautiful, heart-touching stories emerged. I had understood many of my lessons through the mirror image of my roommate, and surprisingly so did she. It was amazing, to say the least! The purpose of my life and my next step towards it was revealed to me in many synchronistic events. The enormity of it is still to unfold.

I wasn’t the only one transformed, there were many such stories. I spoke with Prof Subramaniam of Tirupati the other day. This is what he had to say, “I sincerely feel that my spirits have been rejuvenated, and my energy batteries recharged. My wife and daughter are surprised at the change that has come about in me. I feel at ease with myself. I am able to express my love and joy without any inhibitions. I have come to terms with my children’s decision to live in USA. The workshop was a wonderful and amazing experience for me.”

Anup Vishnu Bagla from Bharatpur feels that the workshop has made him focus on the present. His worries and anxieties have dissolved. He is more receptive to the concepts of forgiveness and gratefulness. He feels more confident in communicating his feelings to others.

Capt SS Sherawat from New Delhi has a similar story. In his words, “I find it easy to let go. I am ready to go with the flow of life. It has brought in peace of mind. Now I am connected with my guiding force. I experience love and joy all the time. Ever since my retirement I was dragging my feet, now I am ready to embark on a new venture. I used to suffer from chronic fatigue, now I feel energetic and enthusiastic. My new life story is unfolding in front of my eyes, and I am very happy about it.”

When I hear these stories I feel like hugging Super Sampoorna for all that her quiet, non-judgmental, loving approach brought out in each one of us. Now it is for us to internalize and bring all these truths into our daily practice. Like they say, you never stop growing until you die.

So three cheers to Louise Hay, three cheers to Sampoorna, and three cheers to Life Positive Foundation!!!!!!!

On the Path

I have been ‘on the path’ (so to say) since my childhood. I remember my mother calling me a ‘lost creature’ who lives in her ‘own world’, and is not aware of what is happening around (the makings of a Sufi?). My father was an atheist, but my mother followed her simple religious rituals. We, as kids, were not asked to follow anything. So we grew up with a rare freedom. (Now I know that I chose such parents and such a home, as an ideal environment for my growth).

While growing up I realized that I loved singing ‘Gurbani’, ‘Shabads’, and ‘Bhajans’ (besides Hindi film songs). I was an avid reader and read all popular books, mainly fiction.

I got married to a person who did not believe in any rituals either. (His family too is very liberal.) However, both of us believed in the concept of a Higher Power. I called it ‘The Nature’. We did nothing about connecting with this power.

I started practicing (and teaching) Yoga, for fitness.

I lived my life like this, very happy and content with my life and my family.

In 1997, I discovered Linda Goodman’s ‘Star Signs’. That was the turning point. One book led to another, and by 1999, I could not read any other kind of books. At present I remain surrounded by books, but they all deal with some or the other aspect of spirituality. Till about 2004, I used to read the complete newspaper. Today I do not even feel like opening it (I only read my own articles in TOI, and sometimes the Speaking Tree, Sacred space, Mind over Matter etc.) Same goes for the magazines. The only magazines I read are Life Positive, Eternal Solutions, Life Times, and White Light etc. All my time is spent in reading and writing. I read many books at a time. Right now I am reading ‘The Power of Now’ by Eckhart Tolle, ‘Tantra Vision: Beyond the barriers of Wisdom’ and ‘Sufis: The people of the Path’ by Osho, ‘The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying’ by Sogyal Rinpoche. I pick up books by intuition. I can not watch television any more. The only information I seek on the Net is something to do with the Path or the Truth.

In 2000, Reiki came into my life along with Meditation.

In 2003, I discovered Sai Baba and understood the phenomenon of ‘cosmic consciousnesses’. What appealed to me was his statement, ‘I am God, and you are also God. The only difference is that I know it, and you don’t’. I am not a typical ‘Baba’ follower, but I see him as ‘pink’ colour in my meditations.

In Dec. 2007, I experienced ‘the flowering of the Soul’ or Enlightenment, during my Past Life Regression Therapist Program.

Today I feel confident enough to proclaim that I am a Light Worker. I am here on the Planet Earth in this time and space, because I chose to be a part of the ‘Shift of the Ages’ that has already started.

I have experienced the ‘oneness’ with the Universe. I look at the World around me as a manifestation of my thoughts, and myself as the Observer. I firmly believe that ‘thoughts are things’. In my meditation I witness them as un-manifested matter.

I feel more loving, peaceful, and abundant. I look at everyone (including myself) as a part of the Whole. I view every thing as an aspect of God. There is nothing else but God.

My relationships have undergone a lot of change. My attachment with my immediate family has decreased. I have loosened control and released my husband and my sons. I have released myself. I feel free. I feel more love for everyone, including animals, trees, plants, minerals, soil, inanimate things etc, without feeling attached in any way. I am more tolerant, even tempered, at peace with the World. I love and appreciate myself whole heartedly. Something I had never done before.

I always wore handloom, so Fab India clothes still remain my favourite.

I am not obsessed about my house being ‘spic and span’ any more. I avoid clutter.

I gave up taking allopathic medicine the day I studied Homeopathy. For a time I relied on both Reiki and Homeopathy. Then I started speaking to my cells. Today it is all ‘Consciousness’ healing through meditation, Reiki, Thought therapy, Emotional freedom Technique, and conversing with my cells. I take responsibility for my dis-ease. I don’t look at it as illness any more. I look at it as ‘issues in my tissues’ that need to be resolved. I know that body never ever lies. It heals itself. As a last resort it tries to communicate with me through some symptoms. The moment I assure it that I have taken cognizance of my deviant thoughts, it feels reassured. When I learn my lesson, it comes back to a state of ease.

I also look at the creation (including my body cells) as being ‘Holographic’. A lot of my understanding comes from this concept.

I have not yet been able to answer the question of ‘Right Food’. I am still seeking the answer that resonates with my being. So far I believe that anything that ‘grows’ can be eaten with gratitude for the offering.

I feel very strongly about the damage that we are doing to humanity by our modern ‘Birthing’ process, and the unenlightened way we handle our ‘dying’ process. These are the two areas I feel inclined to work in.

Past Life Regression Therapy

In this fast-paced life we are forever bogged down by various ills; physical, psychological, occupational, relational, and existential. In order to cure ourselves of these ills we are forever in search of new therapies. Understandably each therapy has its inherent limitations, and the search for panacea continues.

Past life regression therapy attempts to put this search for a perfect therapy to a logical end. It attempts to strike at the root of an issue, at the level of the soul. That is why this therapy is also known as the ‘Soul Therapy’. It works on the premise that we are eternal beings. We have lived before and we will live again. As eternal beings, we carry all our thoughts, impressions, emotions, and feelings from time immemorial into our present being. Hence, most of our so called ills have their roots in some of these thoughts, impressions, feelings, and emotions. To understand our problems, we need to first understand their root cause.

We have all heard of the Law of Cause and Effect. It can be beautifully summed up in this phrase, ‘As you sow, so shall you reap’. The cause is always in the past, the effect is in the present. Science says that every action produces an equal and opposite reaction. This scientific law is in complete sync with Law of Cause and Effect. When we see the undesired effect in our present life, we somehow want to get rid of it. But the Laws of the Universe are infallible. Try as hard as we can, we cannot seem to get rid of these ‘effects’. The solution lies in ‘understanding’ the ‘cause’, then and only then can we break free from this cycle.

This is where Past Life Regression Therapy comes to our rescue. Under a scientifically proven and safe procedure the therapist takes you on an un-chartered journey of self-discovery. You re-live memories of past lives where the root cause of your present day problem lies. Your soul draws the parallels between your past life experience and your current life patterns. Things become clear in your mind and new understanding dawns. You realize that you yourself are responsible for all your so-called problems. Armed with this new understanding, you also realize that the solution to your problem lies within yourself as well. In fact it becomes crystal clear to you. You start looking at life, situations, circumstances, and people with new eyes. You undergo a metamorphosis. The purpose of your life becomes clear to you and you embark upon the rest of your present life journey with confidence and élan.

Can any other therapy on Earth make such tall claims? Past life regression therapy is the therapy of 21st century. It not only helps cure diseases, resolve relationship issues, and brings in clarity; but also helps us grow spiritually. We get answers to eternal questions like, ‘Who am I?’, ‘Am I just a physical body, or is there something more to me?’, ‘What is the purpose of my life?’, ‘What is death?’, ‘How can I fulfill my destiny?’ etc. In fact this therapy is a short route to enlightenment. Since this therapy makes you ‘experience’ your TRUTH, you can not be easily dissuaded from that.

Fortunately leading scientists of the world are taking this branch of science seriously and giving it all the time, energy, and deliberation that it deserves. Dr. Brian Weiss, MD of the USA, and Dr. Newton, MD of India are the pioneers in this field. Besides them thousands of therapists are working in this path-breaking field. At this present time on Earth, this therapy is the need of the hour.

The Secret of Lasting Happiness

All of us want to be happy. In fact whatever be our pursuit, finally happiness is the key that unlocks all the doors to success. But why is happiness so elusive? Why is it so temporary? Why can’t we be happy all the time? What stops us from being happy? Have you ever pondered over these questions? I have. And finally I have found the source of everlasting happiness.

When we are unhappy we look outwards for its cause. We blame people, circumstances and events for our unhappiness; even though we are intellectually aware that happiness comes from within. What is it inside us that causes us to be unhappy?

I have come to believe that our unhappiness stems from our feelings of self hatred, self denial, self loathing, self put-downers, inadequacies; feeling of not being enough, doing enough or having enough; being too judgemental and critical of ourselves, demanding too much from ourselves, trying to achieve more than we can etc.

So how can we achieve happiness? We can remain happy only by loving ourselves. It doesn’t mean feeling narcissistic; it just means accepting ourselves the way we are and acknowledging it to ourselves, no matter what the outside world thinks of us, no matter what our so called reality reflects to us. Just love yourself, approve of yourself, feel proud of yourself, and be amazed at yourself.

Stop comparing yourself to others. Your differences make you unique. You know that no two snowflakes are ever similar; no two daisies bloom the same way, no two poplars stand in the same manner. Then why do you want two human beings to be the same? Why do we compare ourselves with others?

Each one of us is unique. We have each brought a message for the evolution of this planet. Each one is carrying a different message to be delivered in a different way. There are thousand ways of doing a thing, why do we expect us all to be proficient in all the ways? Suffice it to know that there is one thing that you can do better than any other human being in this world. Discover that one thing. Discover your unique talent and express it in your unique way. You will be happiest doing just that. Keep encouraging yourself, loving yourself and approving of yourself all the while.

Please allow me to ask you a few questions.

How many times a day do you say something nice to yourself? How many times a day do you think something kind about yourself? How many times a day do you celebrate your baby steps forward, towards your goals?
Well, tell the truth... If you are like most people, the number of compliments you pay yourself are much lower than the number of put downs, criticisms or judgments you lay on yourself.
Do this awareness exercise:
Notice what happens to your body and emotional self when you say unkind things to them... Say a typical comment you make everyday to yourself such as, "Who do you think you are?" Or "How stupid of you to do that!"
Now notice how your cells respond. Take a deep breath and clear out the damage.
Next, notice what happens to your body and emotional self when you say kind things to them. For example, tell your feet how much you appreciate them carrying you around all day today... How do your feet respond? Or thank your legs for still working... or your heart for still beating... How do they respond?
Appreciate all your body parts and bless them. Appreciate your unique talents and bless them. Appreciate yourself and bless yourself. Notice how you feel. I always end up feeling happy and content after this exercise.
Try it out for yourself!

Messenger of Enlightenment

“You are the messenger of enlightenment”, the Master wrote on my proffered book on the 16th of December, 2007. What a profound message! The full import of it is yet to sink in!!

How did I ever reach this exalted status? I, an ordinary human being of some forty odd years, who has lived life with all human frailties and failings! What did I do to deserve this honor? These questions would have plagued me if someone had pre-warned me about those words. But on that beautiful December afternoon of Hyderabad, the words rang as true in my heart as though they were a foregone conclusion. By then they had become my TRUTH.

Synchronicity is a beautiful celestial phenomenon, and it was such a synchronicity that led me to the doors of Life Research Academy at Hyderabad, all the way from my abode amidst the Himalayan splendor of Shimla. I didn’t know what to expect. I was responding to an inner call, and looking forward to the journey into the unknown. Dr Newton was just a name to me. Of course I had seen his picture on LRA website, but that was that.

I was the first one to reach the venue for the Basic Workshop, and to pass time started browsing through the first edition of ‘Life Times’. The testimonies and stories given there made me excitedly look forward to my own ‘as yet unrevealed’ experiences. Soon other participants poured in and the events took over. Dr Newton came across as a person one could trust, his wife Dr Lakshmi seemed like a perfect match to him.

Two days of Basic Workshop flew by. I did have some experiences but nothing dramatic. I was ‘so-oh’ looking forward to the Therapist’s Program to get to the bottom of my dramas. Well, let me tell you that I was drawn to this entire program basically on my quest for personal spiritual growth. I did not have any issues to resolve as such. But as you know, one always wants to unearth some great stories from the past to be able to justify the whole exercise.

We, ‘Future Therapists’ were an enthusiastic bunch and bonded like a family. Dr. Newton inaugurated the workshop with a deliberate hug to each one of us, which sort of set the mood for the next six days. I have not hugged people so spontaneously in my entire life as I did in those six days. In fact each one of us was forever hugging someone or the other. Age and gender were no barriers.

From day one, people started having exotic experiences. Unbelievable, yet so real! I did not experience any past life on that day, but well it was just the beginning. Day two dawned, this time I reached LBL (life between lives) stage and saw an ‘all knowing’ eye. This eye was peaceful, benevolent, and seemed to be every where. If I tried to enter the eye it would disappear, only to reappear a moment later. I felt calm in its presence. By the end of the third day, people had visited many, many lifetimes and drawn parallels with their current lives. I, on the other hand, had to be content with my ‘eye’. I was beginning to have doubts now. I requested Sridevi to let Dr. Newton or Dr. Lakshmi regress me. But no such luck for me. The only progress that I had made was that I felt one with the Earth, I felt its movements (I was moving with it), both on its axis, and around the Sun. I also received messages like, ‘Where do you want to go? There is nowhere to go to. This is all that there is.’ But all this did not satisfy me. I was restless.

On day four, we were to explore our ‘cellular memories’ and draw a picture. My picture had beautiful pink, golden, and violet colors; my (by now famous) eye, and these words (which had flashed in my mind), ‘Trust you are safe. Trust you are free. Trust you are God.’ During my regression, I was honored by Dr. Newton’s physical presence. He was guiding my therapist. I, on my part stubbornly refused to move beyond my ‘eye’ and my ‘oneness’ with Planet Earth. After the session, I thought in desperation, “People are having such great experiences while I am with my eye.” The moment this thought flashed in my mind it was followed by another one “The EYE is a metaphor for the ‘I AM’ presence.” I was stunned. It was like a revelation. From that moment on, my inner state was altered. When the time came for me to share my experience, my tears just wouldn’t stop. How could I be so blind? I was having the most incredible experience of my lifetime but I did not have the eyes to see it. I was receiving the most profound messages but I did not have the ears to hear them. I had a major TRUST issue.

Day five was finally my day. Dr. Newton had chosen Susheel for the ‘Re-birthing’ exercise. He had some incredible experiences and during the sharing of those experiences read out a prayer that he had written to Dr. Newton the night before. It had something to do with trust, and surrender. Suddenly something came over me; I walked up to Dr. Newton and said, “I have read that when a student is ready the Master appears. I guess I am ready now.” Saying this I bent down and touched his feet. For a fleeting moment even the Master was taken aback. I do not know if my spontaneous surrender made him choose me as the next subject, or I was already on his radar, but I was the next one on the centre-stage, and that was my hour of glory.

I was a puppet in the Master’s hand, following his every instruction, breathing fast in a continuum, and reaching the heights of my experience. I cried like I have never cried before, with my whole being. I laughed like I have never laughed before, with my whole being. I experienced the dazzle of a thousand suns, I moved with Mother Earth, and I reached the Source. The message was loud and clear, “I AM all THAT IS.” The love that I felt deep within me for my fellow beings was over-whelming, but the LOVE and Respect that I felt for my Master, my Spiritual Mother was beyond compare. I fell on his feet and sobbed the tears of love and joy. It felt as though the floodgates of love had opened inside me. When the Master proclaimed that it was the ‘flowering of a soul’, for the first time I BELIEVED.

Almost three months have elapsed since that day. Now the true meaning of the word enlightenment has dawned on me. “Enlightenment is the direct result of freedom from the illusion of a separate self.” I do not need to be in a trance now to feel the oneness with Mother Earth and all life forms on it. It is my SOUL TRUTH now. I live it in each moment. So far that has been my Dharma. My endeavor now is to fill myself with so much LOVE that it overflows effortlessly towards everyone. I KNOW now that I am on the right path, and am being guided to take the right step at the right time. Life has always been a song and a dance for me, today I wish to invite every passer by to sing and dance along with me.

My Master and his beautiful love-filled team are my STARS. They say that the stars are the most trustworthy navigators; with my ‘stars’ firmly in their place, I can cruise through this journey of my present life incarnation with great confidence and élan. My gratefulness pours forth along with my unconditional love. I bow in reverence, and in LOVE.

My Motivation

Sometimes when I try to explain my dream to my family and friends, I get blank stares. My enthusiasm does not find an eager audience. Most of the times, I try and avoid this situation by just keeping quiet about my dreams, but there are times when I can’t contain my excitement. I do understand that everyone operates from their belief system, just as I do. But how come the belief systems are different in the very same family in which we grew up? What exactly determines our belief systems? Is it the cumulative experience and influence of one lifetime or infinite life times?

Since I am a Past Life Regression Therapist, I know that our past lives affect our present belief systems, but for most people this fact is difficult to digest. Most of us believe that our beliefs come from our childhood conditioning. If we were told as children that telepathy does not exist, we will grow up believing it to be our truth. However, it is only a belief and not a fact. Most of what we believe is not based on facts in any case.

Now suppose that as a grown up you come across someone who can demonstrate to you that telepathy does exist. What will you do now? Will you accept this new truth? Generally even when a fact is offered with proof, a skeptic mind would try and block it. They try and skip to another reality zone, just to avoid changing their beliefs. It is a sort of automatic defense mechanism of the ego. Sometimes, when you are trying your best to explain something new to someone, they get a glazed look in their eyes. Their attention drifts off. They stop paying attention to you. This is their mind’s way of blocking out information that does not tally with its belief system. Only an open mind can absorb new information and evaluate it on its own terms.

So, now I have decided to share my dreams only with those people who believe in me. I am not here to change anyone’s belief systems, I am here to have faith in my belief system and evaluate it from time to time. I am here to discard beliefs that do not work for me any more and form experiential beliefs that always work. I do not believe that successful people are just lucky. I know that one becomes successful by believing in one’s dreams.

My motivation comes from setting BIG goals. I stay motivated by writing my goal in great detail, letting go of it in care of the Universe, and taking small inspired actions from time to time. Invariably I am led to the right people, right opportunities and right know-how to achieve my goals. After one goal is achieved, I set another BIG goal. I stay motivated by my complete faith in the Universe. My motivation also comes from imagining a bigger, brighter, and more colourful life than I currently lead. I put my emotions into this picture. Eventually I am led to take successful action. This action is always inspired, and I do it to the best of my ability.

I write my New Life Story and run it through my mind many times a day. Each run builds up the momentum, and I feel excited about taking actions to reach my goals. I know people who live the life that I live and I also know people whose lives are full of boredom and mediocrity. I feel grateful to the Universe because my eyes and mind are open. I have discovered my potential. I have chosen my life of purpose and passion. I feel ecstatic. Life is beautiful.

We need Traction to move forward in life

Shimla has seen some good snow fall this month. As a result the road surfaces have been covered with frozen snow. You can walk on the fresh snow, but trying to wade your way through frozen snow is another story. You’ve got to be real careful lest you land on your bottom! People walk gingerly, taking small but sure steps. However, it requires some practice and courage to walk on snow-laden slopes.

While the pedestrians have a tough time negotiating the walk, the motorists have it worse. Driving a ‘two-wheel drive’ vehicle after a snow-storm poses a huge challenge to all. The car starts going uphill, and then just stops. The wheels keep spinning. The engine keeps cranking. Poor car (and poor driver!) tries as hard as it possibly can, but it doesn’t move forward. Snow flies around and that is that. (You can’t imagine the driver’s plight unless you have been in a similar situation yourself.)

Why doesn’t the car move despite its best efforts and all the driver’s skills put together? What stalls its progress? Well, the wheels need some surface traction to move forward. It is this traction that keeps the moving wheels magnetized to the surface and vice versa. Without traction, you just cannot move how much ever you might try. Have you ever wondered what keeps us human beings stuck in our un-fulfilled lives? Why don’t we move forward? What stops us in our tracks?

The fact remains that just like the stuck car, most of us need some traction as well, to move forward in our lives. We keep struggling at one place, working hard and trying our best. But we don’t seem to be moving up. The driver of the car at least knows why he is stuck; we don’t even know it.

Sometimes this cycle of trying and not getting anywhere can go on for years, a lifetime perhaps. We get gray doing just that. People call it ‘bad’ luck but there is no such thing as bad luck or good luck. We just get used to living like this, in a rut. Yes, we do need some traction in our lives, if we want to move out of this rut. You must be wondering what this traction is, and how you can get it in your life.

Well, traction is something that magnetizes you to your goals, and vice versa. It helps you pull and push perfectly, in unison. When there is traction in your life, achieving your goals becomes the simplest thing on this earth. If there is no traction, try as hard as you may, nothing is going to happen (just like nothing happens to the car). The trick lies in NOT trying hard.

Yes, for eons we have been taught that ‘hard work’ makes us successful. If that be the case, is the person who breaks stones by the roadside successful? He works very hard, even in this freezing cold. What about your domestic help? She works very hard as well. While we can’t handle our own household chores, she works in many homes. Snow is no excuse for her. Some homes (including her own home) do not even have provision for hot water. Don’t you think she works hard enough? What about the construction workers, the laborers? They all work rather hard by any standards, but their lives are like that car stuck in the snow.

So how do we (and they) get this magic wand called ‘traction’ to move on? There is no magic involved here. We derive this all important traction or magnetic force, when we employ a particular ‘thought process’. Once we program ourselves for success, using the software of our thoughts, success can not elude us. The traction comes automatically then, like it comes on a clean road surface. Yes, the snow has to be cleared before we attempt to drive on that road. Similarly our limiting thoughts need to be deleted /cleared before we can re-program our thoughts for success. Then our empowering thoughts will pull us up any hill that we choose to climb!

Love is ALL-THAT-IS

How many of you agree with this statement that Love is ALL-THAT-IS? What is this love that I am referring to? Is it the romantic love? Is it the unconditional love that a mother has for her children? Is it the holy love that we feel for God? These are just various forms of love that we humans experience of this all encompassing, beautifully divine feeling called love. Love that I am talking about is the fundamental core of our being.

It has been said that we all are embodiments of love. That is why all our problems whether physical, psychological, intellectual, or financial can eventually be traced back to lack of love in our lives. How can we fill this void that all of us face sometime or the other? As with everything else in this world, if you want more love in your life, start practicing ‘giving’ more love to others. All the Universal Laws are very simple. If you want respect, learn to respect others. If you want to be successful, help someone else succeed. If you want happiness, make others happy. If you want to be wealthy, help others create wealth. Whatever you want for yourself in this life, just give more of that to others.

Who are these ‘others’ that I am referring to? In spiritual terms we are all connected, because we are all made of the same energy. We are all embodiments of love. That is why, what ever we do to another person, we actually do it to ourselves. It all comes back to us. We call it the ‘boomerang effect’. Do you know what a boomerang is? A boomerang is a curved piece of tough wood, used by the Australian Aborigines as a throwing club. It is designed in such a way that when thrown correctly it returns back to the thrower. Similarly, what we throw at others comes back to us eventually. Do you agree with me here? Have you ever seen this principle working in your own life?

Let me ask you to do a simple exercise. Are you ready for it? If yes, please close your eyes and relax by taking three deep breaths. Now imagine that the feeling of love (you can think of white, pink, or golden light as a symbol of love) is filling you up. It is seeping into your body cells, your bones, and your heart; everywhere. Your entire inside is bathed in love. How do you feel? I am sure you feel great. I feel wonderful after this simple exercise. So whenever you feel low, sick, unworthy, unwanted, or inadequate, just do this exercise. I promise you that you will be filled with enormous hope and enthusiasm. If you make this a part of your routine, you will be surprised at the unprecedented energy surge in you. This energy not only heals your body, but opens up new channels of creativity for you. You move away from the harmful competitive plane, and step on to the creative platform.

Love is like the electricity that flows through wires in your house. It makes all your electric appliances run. Some of these appliances give out heat, some produce a cooling effect, and some give light; while others catch sound waves, some even cook your food. The very same electricity seems to be doing so many different things. In reality electricity is only empowering each appliance to carry out the work that it has been designed for. You agree with me that each appliance has a different purpose. Similarly, each human being has a different purpose. Love just ensures that you carry out perfectly what you have been designed to do in this world.

Are you ready to put a little more love into your life? It is not difficult to do. Everyday take a few minutes out of your busy schedule for nurturing love. Keep a Love Journal. Write the names of five people / things / life forms that you love. Keep adding one name to this list everyday. Soon you will be in love with the whole world, and the world will reflect all your love back to you!

In Oscar Wilde’s words, “The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and richness to life that nothing else can bring.”

Just Relax!

Just Relax!

We use this expression very often in our day-to-day conversation. What do these words mean to you? When we say these words to someone, we intend to put their minds to rest, but do these words achieve their purpose? When someone else says these words to us, we resist their implication, and the implicit patronage. The truth is that these words weave their magic and unleash their intended meaning only when we say these words to our own selves. But how often do we do that? Instead of saying these words to others, we should be constantly chanting these to ourselves. These words are magical and they really help in relaxing us. Try saying them to you now! Closing your eyes while doing that will magnify the effect. Try it. Did you feel relaxed?

Relaxation is a much sought after state. An entire industry is working round the clock, to provide you with R&R, rest and recreation. But the fact remains that no one outside of you can ensure relaxation for you. You have to decide to relax, and then they can facilitate the process by employing various well-researched tools. But the bottom line is that you need to be willing to experience relaxation.

Just to hear ‘ok, now relax’ doesn’t really work. You have experienced it yourself. You have to go inwards and find out what it is that is putting you on edge. Identify it and solve the situation. Most of our pressure comes from not having all the facts that we need to solve a particular problem. Sometimes we pick up pressure from our colleagues, friends and family. The solution lies in being loyal to your own self above everything else. This may seem like promoting selfishness, but the truth is that you are the most important person in your life. The moment you make other people more important than you and try to please them, you are asking for trouble.

Relaxation automatically follows fun. In fact they go hand in hand. Make it your business to have fun with everything that you do. My daily affirmation reads, ‘My primary aim in life is to feel and experience joy.’ I repeat it as often as I can. This simple sentence works as a wake up call every time I get bogged down by any pressure.

Being relaxed means stopping for a while before you allow your emotions to come o the fore. Being relaxed means not being ‘reactive’ but being ‘pro-active’.

Ask yourself, ‘How can I relax more within my self and listen to the inspiration that is coming to me all the time?’ Close your eyes and let the answer come to you. Listen to the answer and follow it with your heart.

What are the keys to relaxing more and enjoying life to the fullest? Take a look at what you have. Make a list of what you have and be grateful for everything. Be the kind of person you have always wanted to be. Don’t let any lack of time, money or resources restrict you. Tune in and make sure that you are in tune with your Higher Self. Live in your feelings and not your emotions.

The Eternal Quest

I was having a chat with Suma (the Chief Editor of Life Positive) when she mentioned that she had always wanted to answer various questions that keep popping up in young heads while they are on the verge of life. Since I have two sons in that stage right now, the idea interested me immensely. I immediately agreed to carry it forward. My next step was to call up my sons (one in Mumbai and other in Kolkata) and ask them about the unanswered questions that they and their friends deal with. The next day they came up with a list of questions, but most of them were career related. I was perplexed. Is this all that the young minds think about these days? Where is that existential angst that we experienced when we were of their age?

Now this question was thrown back at them. This time they came up with the kind of queries that I was expecting in the first place. I got ready to put on my ‘Life Skills Coach’s cap and write down some comprehensive answers. I was quite looking forward to this assignment. Giving ‘gyan’ to others is such fun after all! But my first born spoiled this fun for me. He said, “Ma, you can’t answer others’ questions for them. If someone has a question, that s/he wants to be answered, s/he can be certain that the answer to her/his question resides within her/him.” I couldn’t argue with this logic. These were my own words being thrown back at me! Yes, I firmly believe that if a desire has been placed in your heart, then all the mechanisms of its fulfillment are also revealed to you, if you care to look with in. Similarly, if a question pops up in your head, you just need to go within to get its answer. The only tool you need is your ‘willingness’.

The ball was back in my court! I decided to seek the solution from ‘the wise one’ who had posed the problem in the first place. He seemed slightly disappointed in me for not figuring it out by myself, and offered a simple solution, “Give the questions back to the people who asked them. Let them sit silently, get in touch with their inner self, and come up with their own answers. That way you would help them in empowering themselves and you won’t have to wrack your brain for the ‘right’ answers.” Wow! It sounded great (though I wasn’t too happy about his insinuations regarding my brain and stuff!). It seemed like a win-win situation.

So the stage was set. Each young person was given back his own question. The process of getting in touch with ‘the you-of- you’ (or I- of- I) was explained. They were asked to be ‘just willing’ to hear the answers, and have faith in the process. I was touched by their enthusiasm and openness to this new idea. (Why don’t we expose them to more of such stuff, I wonder?) They were to post their questions and the answers to me within a week, and they complied right on time. Some of them had such great experiences in the process that I feel confident they are hooked for life, just as I am! I must admit that this has been a great learning experience for me as well. For one, I have learnt to respect this young generation, like never before. I feel like clapping for them!

Well, here are some of those questions, along with the answers. These answers are enlightening enough, but if you have a special question of your own, then please follow the process and find your own special answers. You are sure to enjoy this search, just like these young men and women did!)

Shveta (20 years young)

Q- What is the purpose of my life?

Ans- The purpose of my life is to be the best that I can be. Everyday I must get better than what I was yesterday. I am not in competition with anyone. Everyone is growing at his/her own pace. I am here to just improve my own self. The choices that I make in my life are right for me, they may not be right for others. In any case I can only choose for my self. I can’t choose for others.

Mayank (22 years young)

Q- Can I go through life without being dishonest and corrupt?

Ans- Do you know any person who is honest, and happy? (He was asked a question for his question, in typical Socratic style!) If your answer is yes, then you’ve got your answer. Life is about living and letting live. It is about enjoying what you do. Can you enjoy being corrupt? If you can truly enjoy it, then make your choice. If your conscience agrees with your choice, it will let you know by making you feel both joyful and ecstatic. If instead of that you feel fear of being caught, then you know that this choice is not right for you.

Joy (21 years young)

Q- How can I achieve my goals?

Ans- First of all I must be clear about my goals. My goals should not only bring happiness to me, but also contribute in some way to the society at large. Once I am clear about a goal, I would be shown the way to its achievement. I will meet right people at the right time. The universe will conspire to make my dreams come true. Right opportunities will come my way, and I will be guided to make the best of them. It is the first step that is the most important one. Clarity opens the way for fulfillment.

Joe (19 years young)

Q- I am confused about what to do with my life. How do I get clarity?

Ans- It is very simple. There are some things that you love doing. Make a list of all those things. Don’t leave anything. Include watching television, playing computer games and listening to music, if you love doing any of these things. That love for these things was put in to your heart for some purpose. These are not mere time wasters as you have been led to believe. But you’ve got to be true to yourself. Put a thing down on your list only if you are 100% sure that you LOVE doing it. Now look at your list and try to figure out how to make a career out of these things that you absolutely love to do. You will get your answer there. Doing your labour of love makes work seem like play. Won’t you love to get paid for ‘playing’ all your life?

Ritika (21 years young)

Q- What is life really all about?

Answer- Life is about loving, sharing and enjoying. Life is about growing and learning. It is about having fun, and letting your hair down. It is about accepting things as they are, and not resisting them. Whatever we resist persists in our life. We give power to it by paying attention to it. So learn to accept things that you can’t change. But change things that you can. The important thing is to know the difference between the two. Learn to let go of resistance and let life in.

Niharika (20 years young)

Q- I find myself so full of anger and frustration. How can I get rid of these feelings?

Ans- Anger and frustration are a result of your resistance to the things as they are in your life right now. It is important to let out these feelings. Whenever you get angry, hit your pillow with all your might, get a punching bag, go for a run, or dance vigorously. Let the energy of anger dissipate. After that sit quietly and learn to accept things, people and situations as they are. The truth is that you have somehow attracted these very people, things and situations in your life. No, don’t protest! You may have done it unknowingly, unconsciously. But now reverse the process consciously. Think of the kind of people, things and situations you actually want in your life. Slowly but surely you will manifest these people and situations in your life. You are powerful, so don’t feel frustrated. Just use your power of thoughts.

(Niharika had the most profound experience. She is a changed person now. Changed for the better, that’s what her friends claim!)

Nikhil (19 years young)

Q- How do I decide what is right and what is wrong?

Ans- There is nothing that is absolutely right, and nothing that is absolutely wrong. Right and wrong are just matters of perception and conditioning. Each society, each family, each person has his own idea of what is right and what is wrong. The yardstick is individual, but the rules remain the same. If it feels good to you, and doesn’t harm anyone else, it is right for you. Listen to your body signals. It is the most accurate gauge of what is right and what is wrong for you. If your body sends signals of discomfort, it definitely isn’t right for you.
Abhijit (18 years old)

Q- What is true success?

Ans- Success is a process and not a goal. Each day you can count your successes and failures and decide if the day was successful or not. Success is cumulative, so successful days add up to successful lives. Deciding to do something (however trivial) and then doing it, or deciding not to do something (however important) and then not doing it, is being successful, as far as that thing or task is concerned. Count your successes everyday, you will get addicted to being successful.

Bikram (20 years young)

Q- Does one have to let go of idealism sooner or later?

Ans- It depends upon your ideal. If your ideal keeps resonating with you as you grow in life, you need not let go of it. But the day it loses its appeal, it is time to release it and form new ideals. Life is all about change. It can’t be static. Everything in this Universe is evolving all the time, including your ideas and ideals. Be true to yourself at every stage. You would then achieve your ideal.

Nikita (17 years young)

Q- Why do most adults seem less happy, less enthusiastic, and more burdened as they grow older?

Ans- These people are stuck in the webs of their own making. In their race to be more, have more, and do more, they have forgotten how to enjoy life. They are like robots. They are lost, yet no one can rescue them but themselves. They need to wake up and smell the roses, so to say! If you are clear about your purpose in life, that is to care and to share, you will never become like them. Life will be a song and a dance for you. Problems will come your way, but you will take them for what they truly are, great lessons of life in disguise of problems. You will overcome them with great equanimity and emerge a winner. You will always have that spark in your eyes, because you are special, as everyone else is. Unfortunately for them, they forgot this precious truth a long time ago.

Akshit (18 years young)

Q- What is this thing called God? I do not feel any closeness to God. Why do I need God?

Ans- God is just a name given to the unseen, but great Power that keeps this Universe in order. You may give it any name that you like. It doesn’t mind that! You are made of the same stuff that this Power is made of, so in a sense, you are God (or whatever you call It) too. This Power resides within you, in your DNA. You can connect with it any time you want to, by just desiring the connection. But you need to be silent to experience the connection. It is so subtle in the beginning that you might miss it if you are not too mindful. But eventually as you become more aware of this Power, you will feel it all the time, all around you. That will be a special day!

Aseem (22 years young)

Q- I look within but I do not find any resources to succeed in life. I am afraid. Is there any hope for me?

Ans- If you operate from the platform of fear, fear will be your constant companion. But if you shun its company and choose to befriend faith instead, all your fears will dissipate like the darkness does when the sun shines. You need to look within with the hope of finding answers, with total faith in your abilities. Only then will you find your real Power, and your life will be full of renewed hope and vigour.

Ashima (21 years young)

Q- Why do good people suffer?

Ans- Challenges in life are inevitable for so called good and bad people alike. But suffering, like being happy, is a choice that people make (again good or bad alike). Life teaches its lessons for your growth and evolution. If you choose to ignore the lessons and focus on the event alone, you invite suffering. Suffering is not inherent in the problem. It is but a reaction to a given situation. Good people (or even bad people for that matter) can choose not to suffer. If people learn to accept all life situations as opportunities for growth, there will be no suffering. But people have a long way to go, before achieving that stage.

Aakash (20 years young)

Q- Why is life so complicated?

Ans- Life is not complicated, we think that it is complicated, and in the process complicate it for ourselves. Life is actually very simple. We are given this life to experience growth, joy, love, and care. But we want to be one up on others. Now that is not acceptable to the life-giver. The Universe believes in abundance for all, while we believe in everything for I, me, and myself. This produces the contradictions, and the complications. If we begin to be less competitive, and more creative, all the complications will resolve by themselves. It is that simple.

Dia (21 years young)

Q- Why is there so much uncertainty in life?

Ans- Uncertainty is the spice of life. Learn to embrace it and accept it gratefully. How boring would life be if everything was known before hand. There would be no fun in living then. It is like reading the entire script of a movie, and then going to watch it. Would it be fun anymore? The beauty of life lies in its unfolding. Each day brings in new surprises, new challenges, and new gifts. The anticipation of a new day gives meaning to life. Uncertainty is your friend. It is the mother of all potential possibilities.

Shreya (22 years young)

Q- How do I get the best out of life?

Ans- Simple. You will get best out of life by giving it your best shot. You get what you give. So if you want love, give more love. If you want respect, give more respect. If you want to succeed, help someone succeed. Life always pays you back in your own coin. It is but a mirror of your inner self. It always reflects your true reality. So go ahead, do your best, and be your best. Life will always give you the best then.

P.S. - I was in for a great shock (and laughter later on) when I realized that my sons had played a prank on me. They gave me the answers from my own lectures to them, and their friends (like true friends!) played along. But I had the last laugh when I told them that the purpose of my exercise has been achieved; now that so many young people are privy to THE knowledge! Some food for thought!!

P.P.S- Well, these are the questions that most of us ask ourselves. These young people got readymade answers, but I hope that these answers will change their world for them; for no knowledge is greater than the knowledge of the TRUTH!

To Give or Not to Give

When I was a child I was told not to encourage beggars by giving alms to them, yet giving alms to the needy was extolled as a virtue in the bedtime stories my mother told us. I could not understand the difference between the two contradictory messages. Since ‘not giving’ suited me very well, I never really questioned my elders. I grew up thinking that beggars were a menace to society. I would not only not give any alms, but also offer them a piece of advice, ‘Why don’t you go and work somewhere?’ Sometimes I would lie, ‘I don’t have any money’, but then I would remember the moral of ‘Satya Narayan Katha’ where the same lie told by a merchant to a beggar turned his entire riches to dust. On such occasions I would reluctantly toss a coin in their open palms. Needless to say I was always left nursing feelings of guilt and remorse after my encounter with beggars (a common, unavoidable, everyday affair in our country).
When my younger son started noticing my behavior with beggars, he said something profound that changed my outlook forever. He said that if someone extends his arm to you to ask for something, the least you can do is- give. His innocent words set me thinking. Why do I have to be moralistic about giving? Is it easy to beg on the streets? If I want to give some money to someone just like that, will he/she take it? How difficult is it for me to ask for anything from anyone? It must be difficult for them as well. They have completely lost their dignity in deciding to beg, this must be the last resort for them. And even if they are doing it for easy money, who am I to sit in judgment?
Ever since that day I decided to give alms to everyone who extended his/her arm towards me. But old conditioning takes time to change. In my wisdom, I decided that it was okay to give to old destitute people and lepers (who had no choice but to beg), but I still could not encourage begging by children, and young women with infants in their arms. I reasoned that these are well bodied people who ought to earn their living by the brow of their sweat, just like the rest of us.
Even though I was giving alms now, it was more out of duty than pleasure. Sometimes I would give reluctantly, without looking the beggar in the eye. At other times I would think thoughts of lack while giving (such as- I am going to soon run out of money or I hope I don’t encounter any more beggars today). In short giving was not something that I did joyfully and out of a sense of abundance. I was not really comfortable with the thought of giving.
Then I read Deepak Chopra’s ‘Seven Laws of Success’. It was an eye opener. The simplicity of his logic floored me. ‘Whatever you give comes back to you many folds; provided you give with love and joy in your heart’. It reminded me of ‘the boomerang effect.’ Just like a boomerang curves in the air and comes back to you, what ever you ‘throw’ out to the world circles around and lands back at your step. I see this law constantly operating in my life and I am sure so do you. When I smile at someone, in most cases, they smile back. If I am kind to someone, they return my kindness. In a similar vein, when I complain to someone, they share their complaints with me. If I get angry at someone, they get angry with me. Some things come back to me instantly, while some take time. But the fact remains that whatever I give out comes back to me.
Ever since I have understood this truth, life has become much simpler. If I want more joy and happiness, I make it a point to bring happiness into other’s lives. Similarly when I need more money, I give some away. Now I do it from my heart, with a feeling of joy, gratitude and abundance. Knowing fully well that if I give from the space of feeling guilty because I think I should give even though I don’t want to, I will continue to create more feelings of guilt and of being deprived.
I also understand that if you plant one seed, you don’t just get one back. You get thousands! Similarly the Universe gives back my ‘giving’ to me in multiplication of thousands, not as a reward, but to fulfill my faith in abundance. When I give to someone out of love, I send a message of faith to the universe- the faith that my coffers will be replenished. And the Universe answers my faith in affirmative. It is as simple as that. There is no promise of increase unless we give freely.
All giving should be an expression of joy. We should give because of love. The feeling with which we give is the spirit of giving. When we give with joy, the energy we send forth is that of joy. This energy is the most important aspect of our giving. The energy we give out is the energy that will come back to us.
Now every time I give, I silently say these words, ‘There is a lot more where this comes from.’ After all I am just a channel; the real source of giving is the Universe. I have placed my complete faith in it and as a result of that I am a far happier person today. I love giving--- and I love receiving.

Manifesting Miracles

Miracles are natural. When you awaken to the true nature of reality and discover it is not the solid world it appears to be and that you are its source not subject, you begin to experience life as the magical dream that it truly is. The more you acknowledge yourself as the powerful co-creator that you are, the more you will step into a whole new way of living, creating and experiencing your life where synchronicities and serendipities abound and miracles no longer surprise you (in fact, you come to expect them!).
“There are two ways to live your life - one is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is a miracle.” - Albert Einstein

Your world is not separate from you; what’s more it is malleable. Your heart and mind hold the keys to its mastery. It is you that determines what exists from the infinite field of possibility (what in Quantum Physics terms is called the ‘Zero Point Field’ that is the foundation of all matter).

Your reality is a hologram of your consciousness, a reflection and extension of the entirety of your mind. When you change, so does your world. It can’t not.

You are a miraculous manifesting machine creating your reality in every moment! You can’t not create. The key is to become conscious of how you do so. This is the art of true alchemy.

You can create miracles by harnessing the tools of your consciousness. These include your beliefs, attitudes, thoughts and feelings, your desire (the fuel that breathes life into your dreams and seeds your intentions), imagination (the boundless palate with which you craft your world), positive emotional resonance (love, trust, gratitude, fun and so forth), connection to your bright future (experiencing it ‘for real’ in your heart and mind NOW to engage future causation) and choice itself (the flagship of free will that can direct and determine all preceding elements).

Not only can you be manifesting miracles consciously, you can also invite them into your life by the grace of co-creation, by allowing the universe to gift you, love you and bless you simply by asking and being open and willing to receive.
You both consciously and unconsciously create the world around you, yet you are not alone in the process. You are a co-creator with the source of life, what ever name you hold for such, that ever conspires in your favour and will perform any amount of miracles and magic for the attainment of your desires.
You deserve all that your heart desires. You are the only one that can stand in your way. Expand your vision of the possible and open to receive. The only limits are those that exist within your own mind. The universe always says yes. Will you?
The more you recognize that you are eternally connected to an all-loving infinitely abundant source, the more you will allow in the grace of co-creation.
The fastest way to activate miracles in your life is through the gateway of love. Love is the highest vibration in the universe.
You are a spiritual being born of love. The essence of who you are is love itself. You are inherently lovable and have always and will always be loved by the heart of creation. Miracles are love in action.
The universe loves you more than you are able to fully know. It loves you totally and unconditionally. There is nothing you can do to lose that love, and nothing you need do to win it.
The more you connect to this truth, the more magic and miracles you will allow into your life and the more effortless your successes will become, for you will realize there is no separation between you and the love of Source and anything you desire can be yours by choice.
